Join Chris Barron as he shows you one of the more interesting places in Nanoose Bay, Brickyard Community Park. Located in the community of Fairwinds, this park is part of the very unique history of Nanoose Bay.
The first European settler in Nanoose Bay was George Enos who moved to the area in 1862, clearing the land that would become Notch Hill Ranch. The area seen a dynamite factory, which gave us the name Powder Point, and a lumber mill in Red Gap. One of the more unique businesses in Nanoose was the brick making plant that was built in what is now Brickyard Bay and the Brickyard Community Park.
Brickyard Community Park offers amazing vistas of the Strait of Georgia and the Coastal Mountains. What makes this place unique is the fact you can still find bricks scattered throughout the park. Bricks that date back all the way to the brick making plant.
